about

This delightful little wren began singing one morning right outside my cottage. I was sleeping with the windows open so I could hear any birdsong, so I jumped out of bed at 4am and set up the microphone on the doorstep. The wren sang like this for 45 minutes without stopping, and the recording was only interrupted by my husband getting up and asking what I was doing, which I edited out! The track begins with the wind in the hedge at the bottom of the garden, and part of the way through I bring in the distant sounds of the farmland near where I spend part of my childhood, near Stromness. Listen out for the odd cockerel!
